I got David an ipad for Christmas this year. He really enjoys it, but we've thought of it as a fun toy. Yes, it does useful things - has internet and wi-fi, e-mail, bill pay, etc. I like it for "angry birds". Megan was assigned "20,000 Leagues under the sea" for English. We downloaded it to the ipad. It was wonderful! There were several words I didn't know, so I could highlight them with the touch of a finger and look up the meaning. Here is Megan taking notes for her essay. She has the book open, plus dictionary.com. I guess the ipad is more than just a toy...
